Bureau of Constants

A little help for your desk.

Bureau of Constants is an idle game about running universes with different laws of physics. Your desk keeps producing while the app is closed.

How the Bureau rooms help

The rooms keep useful rewards between universes, even through Cosmology. A room opening gives you access to its work. You still need to choose an investigation or research job, earn or collect its result, and prepare it for a later universe.

Archive: fit and use tools

Relics are tools you can use again on later universes. The standard labels give one use per universe. Earn them through Experiments or Research, then open Relics and fit up to two in the next opening list. After issuing that universe, return to Relics and press Use when the tool will help. For example, Behn's Lens adds 25 Quarks without spending Quanta. Fitting a tool does not change the equipment in your current universe.

Laboratory: earn permanent rewards

In Experiments, choose an investigation before closing. It becomes active in the next universe. Meet its displayed goal, then file when the Bureau recommends closure. The reward is entered once and kept. First Record, available through the Archive after one closure, asks for a milestone and earns the Duplicate Stamp. Fit the Stamp for a later issue, then use it once at least two tiers are open.

Closing early or missing a goal still pays ordinary Insight. Select that investigation again to retry. Completed investigations do not pay another reward.

Workshop: research and opening stock

In Research, start one job and let it run while you play or while you are away. When it finishes, press Collect result; it will wait for you. Collecting frees the bench for another job. Stores Preparation takes ten minutes and earns Quark Stock.

In Opening kits, choose earned stock for the next universe. Quark Stock adds 24 Quarks; Capital Reserve adds 2,000 Quanta. Kits add to your Insight opening grants, and their units only go into licensed tiers. Bare Desk sets aside all opening stock. Choosing a kit does not alter the current board.

Observatory: a survey that survives resets

After five closures, the survey starts automatically. Its three desks grow while you are away and keep their board through closure and Cosmology. Best return buys the largest output gain for the price. Establish all desks first aims for ten units at each survey desk, then buys for best return.

At 10,000 surveyed, you automatically earn Survey Opening. Select it in Opening kits for a later issue. Survey output never turns into Quanta or Insight on the main board. The million-place exhibit and Archive Catalogue record your findings; they give no production bonus.

Before you close

Check your active experiment, collect ready research, fit your earned relics and choose an opening kit. Next opening shows the actual tools, goal, units and Quanta that will travel with you. Unfinished research continues through resets.

Version 1.1: the next TestFlight update

These additions are in version 1.1 for internal testing. Version 1.0 keeps the room instructions above.

Case files: three chapters across universes

After five closures, open Case files in Your Bureau. Pick one of three files and read all its costs and rewards. The two instrument cases earn their trial tool and pack it into an empty carrying slot. If both slots are occupied, choose it yourself before a later opening. The survey case uses an opening kit; select its listed kit for the next chapter. Send parcels from your current earned Quanta, or establish the required survey desks. Meet the chapter goal and file when closure is advised. Early filing keeps receipts and retries that chapter; changing cases pauses the old file.

Configurations: different uses of the same budget

Earn blueprints from cases or expeditions, then choose the configuration in Relics before opening another universe. Split Stamp divides its existing allowance between two eligible desks. Three intervals divides the Stopwatch's sixty seconds into three twenty-second production credits. You can buy or wait between credits. Law clocks advance; research, survey and elapsed time do not. The current universe keeps its opening configuration.

Expeditions: allocate survey output

At seven closures, choose a route and divert 25% or 50% of gross survey output into supply; the rest buys survey units. Deep Shelf needs 75 units on the third desk and 250,000 supply. Three Bearings needs 70 at each desk and 500,000 supply. Long Signal needs 6,000 survey output per second and 1,000,000 supply. The route page offers buying focuses for these targets. Eligible new supply goes to the selected destination while you are away; other supply stays in reserve and can be sent once the condition is met. Collect the finished discovery for its permanent kit and any listed blueprint.

Field Office: build and operate two more desks

The construction plan opens at seven closures. Foundations need one completed case, one collected discovery and 20,000 Quanta. Fitting out needs two of each and 100,000 Quanta. Findings stay yours; only Quanta are spent. Affordable installments survive resets.

Each finished satellite desk can reinvest its own output or send supply to expedition reserve. Ten thousand supply packs one next-opening consignment: 20 Quarks, 20 Nucleons and 5 Atoms in licensed tiers, or 15,000 Quanta. It adds to the selected kit and is used at the next opening. Bare Desk stands it down. You can prepare another afterward; there is no attendance deadline.

Comparison reports: share a result with its starting advantages

Open Comparison reports from Your Bureau or Charter. Each local record includes the exact charter address and version, opening stock, grants, tools, case choices and timing. Active time means the foreground game loop, including reading forms. Elapsed time adds time away. Milestones discovered offline show their return observation rather than an invented exact crossing. Already-running universes start partial records. Share opens the system sheet; cancelling keeps the report.

The free trial and full game

The tutorial universe and first three rolled charters are free. A single permanent Full Game Unlock opens every universe after them. Your progress and current universe are kept. There are no ads or subscriptions, and the purchase does not change production rates.

Open Settings → Full game to see the price in your local currency. Apple handles the purchase. Family Sharing is enabled for the unlock; availability follows Apple's account and family settings.

Restore a purchase

Use the Apple Account that bought the unlock. Open Settings → Restore Purchases and follow Apple's instructions. You need a connection for restoration. If you already bought the game, you do not need to buy it again.

An approved purchase can take time to appear. Try restoration again once it is complete. For billing or refund requests, use Apple's purchase support.

Where your save lives

Your progress is stored on this device. The game has no account or cloud-save service. Erasing progress in Settings keeps your full-game purchase. Deleting the app can remove your progress; restoring a purchase restores access, not a lost save.

Offline progress

Production continues at the full game rate, with no time cap. Return to the app to collect it. Dispatch reconstructs purchases made during your absence. An internet connection is only needed for App Store purchases and restoration.

Closing a universe

Closing a universe resets its production ladder and pays Insight. Earned Bureau rooms, research, relics, opening kits, commendations and letters remain in your career. The Bureau screen shows what a closure will pay before you file it.
